Batchelor Heights

Built upon the hills above North Kamloops and Westsyde is Batchelor Heights. This neighbourhood is mostly comprised of single-family homes with some townhouse developments in the area. Many homes in Batchelor Heights have views of the city and the North Thompson River making it a great choice if looking for a home with a view. Some of these view homes are among the larger homes on the North side of Kamloops in terms of finished square footage. 

Having been an area of expansion in the city for a number of years this neighbourhood has a number of homes that were built in the last 10 years so is great if looking for something a bit newer. 

Batchelor Heights is a great area if looking for close access to mountain biking and hiking trails. The Lac du Bois Grasslands Protected Area lies behind the neighbourhood and is a popular place for hiking, visiting lakes (McQueen and Isobel to name a few), and mountain biking. 

It is hoped that an elementary school will one day be built in the neighbourhood but for now, students attend Westmount Elementary in the Westmount neighbourhood. 

This south facing neighbourhood gets a significant amount of sunshine and snow is quicker to melt here than in other neighbourhoods which are built at elevation. The warm and arid climate of Batchelor Heights even lends itself to being a good rattlesnake habitat, but don’t worry, the city has installed a barrier along the fence line between the neighbourhood and the grasslands to keep the snakes out.
