Dallas
Situated in the warm valley bottom between the South Thompson River and the hills of Barnhartvale lies Dallas. This family friendly neighbourhood is an ode to urban planning of the past with many large ¼ acre (or bigger) lots. Homes in this area have room to breathe between houses that newer areas of the city do not provide. This area is one of the best in town to find a detached shop with many of the older houses featuring garage additions or detached shops due to the large lot sizes.
Looking for waterfront? Streets like Chukar Drive, Bostock Place, and Kipp Road features some of the best waterfront homes in the city.
Dallas features plenty of hiking trails with the Dallas/Barnhartvale nature park having an entrance along Dallas Drive as well as from Barnhartvale. Hike up to the bench above and take in the sweeping views of the valley and the South Thompson River.
This neighbourhood features many of its own amenities such as Market Fresh Foods which is a full size grocery store. Other amenities directly in the neighbourhood include Subway, IDA pharmacy, hair salon, daycare, cannabis store, Petro Canada, pub, and liquor store.
If not grabbing groceries in the neighbourhood, downtown is closer than you think. Just 10 minutes from the Dallas Drive exit to downtown Kamloops of easy highway driving. Head East from Dallas and you’ll be at the BC Wildlife park in 5 minutes or in Chase and the Shuswap in about 30 minutes.
An elementary school with large playing fields, the Dallas Dog Park, Thompson Park on Beaver Crescent which features an ice rink in the winter/basketball hoops in the summer, and the Pineridge Golf Course are other features of the area.
