Downtown Kamloops is the most diverse area of Kamloops and it has several distinct areas. It has all types of housing from heritage homes, to condos, penthouse suites, townhouses, and single-family homes.  

The main downtown core area has numerous condo buildings many with beautiful views of the downtown core and surrounding mountains/river. This includes the newest condominium tower- Trillium at City Gardens which will be a 24 storey tower with estimated completion in 2025. Homes in this area are close to many restaurant and shopping options. There are also a multitude of small single-family homes in the downtown core on streets like Battle, Nicola, St. Paul and Columbia.  

Moving farther out but still in the downtown area you’ll find some of the oldest homes in the city on streets in and around 1st Avenue and in the West End. Some of these are heritage homes with beautiful period features and a few are even on large lots. Other parts of downtown also feature heritage homes such as those on streets south of Columbia Street between Columbia and Fraser such as Dominion, Pine, and Pleasant Streets.  

North of the railroad tracks between the CN railway yard and the river you’ll find further townhouse and condo options in the Lorne Street area. These homes are close to Riverside Park which is the main city park where events are held and the Sandman Centre were the Kamloops Blazers play and numerous concerts/events are hosted. 

Downtown Kamloops is served by a French immersion elementary school and South Kamloops Secondary. Non-French immersion elementary school students attend the elementary school in lower SaHali. 

If you’re looking for a walkable neighbourhood that is just a stones throw from shopping, entertainment, and restaurants then downtown Kamloops would make an excellent choice.
